InBev AB just bought Golden Road last week. Bummer since they're a hop skip and a jump away from me and the sponsor of my swim team.

Seems like a craft beer is like everything else - make a hihg-profile enough product, get bought out. Sad

I think the bigger cause is something the article pointed out: Big Beer is in a near-panic because they are losing market share on a steady slope. Even if one acquisition doesn't make a major dent in the bottom line, they at least need to show themselves as aware of the trend and trying to mitigate it.

As for DFH, I'm not quite sure what to think. Obviously, any time you take on someone else's money, you become somewhat beholden to them, but going with a single investor over an IPO implies they're trying to retain as much control as possible.

I do wonder what exactly they plan to do with the money. They're big enough now that I would think their steady growth could support itself, so a single big influx of cash makes me think there's a specific milestone planned. The two things that come to mind are opening another brewing facility (West Coast?) or trying to expand their brewpub model (as opposed to simply making more beer).

Well if they did, I would assume it's more for extended production and distribution than anything else.

Can you not get DFH out there on the Wrong Coast?

First of all, west coast is the best coast.

Second of all, I can, it's just 'spensive.
